Chindongo saulosi was previously classified as Pseudotropheus saulosi. These fish start as yellow-gold fish, but males change to an electric blue with black stripes. They were once endangered in the lake, but a dedicated group of exporters, scientists, and importers helped reintroduce them to the wild.
