Sunflower Cichlid (formerly N. helianthus) inhabit rocky areas of Lake Tanganyika and will prefer to have several piles of rock in the tank. Breeding will take place in the crevices between rocks. Like many Neolamprologines, they exhibit excellent parental care and often allow multiple spawns to be raised together. They get along well with Altolamprologus, Julidochromis, and other Neolamprologus.
