Tropheops species such as the Red Cheeks are separated from other mbuna by their sloping forehead and small lower jaw. They feed by biting filamentous algae on rocks and twisting their bodies to separate it. The contrast between the blue males and yellow-orange females makes them a perfect choice for a small breeding project, as you will have colour regardless of gender.
